Iron man, snow white macbook decal for sale on ebay http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180444380606&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT
Well, after hours searching and trying to get a replacement LCD screen for my 20″ iMac, I was so disappointed I couldn’t find any thing under my budget. $900 for a 3 years old computer screen part I rather get a new Macbook Pro instead.
Since I am low on budget then I figured that I can use my iMac like a normal PC desktop + a monitor if that works. (I have an extra monitor with my iMac, I like having 2 screens, one for browsing and one for work or movies. it’s good.)
So I turn on the mac and try to drag the system preferences window to anther screen, that takes me almost an hour. Try to think about it, I have to guess where is the SP icon on the dock, open it then drag that window to another screen without seeing it. I was luck I did it. Now I have a computer that is “working”. Followed with set 2 screen as duplicate – showing the same thing, then done.
NOT yet, I realize I don’t like the feeling which the screen is on but I can’t really see anything (well, I see grey, white color and cracking screen). I hate to do it but there is only one way I could think of is open the sh*t of that iMac and unplug the LCD cable.
After anther half hour opening, un/screwing and cleaning (you have no idea how dirty is that mac inside, 3 years of dust, moving from Sherbrook to Montreal).
This is my final product, it’s not perfect but I can live with it for now.
I am quite satisfied for what I did.
I heard the new about bokeh filter for DSLR, so I did some research on it. The picture turns out pretty cool.
So I was wondering what does this filter looks like, normal UV look? What make is very special?
How does the manufacture made the filter? How to DIY a simple one?
Here is how to do it.
1. Cut and shape the sheet to make a fake lens hood. The Diameter is made so that it snugly fits on the lens.
2. In the middle of the filter the wanted bokeh shape is cut out – in out example a heart is used. I’m not sure how big a hole the shape can be. But you can check it right away by just looking through the viewfinder. On the 50mm lens @ F1.8 a 15mm heart gives a metering value equal to F3.2, so it can probably be a little bigger
3. Set your camera to its lowest aperture value (completely open).
Go ahead and try it out!
I remember when i was in school, there is a course called Logic Design. we made a clock with white board, chips and wires. I thought wow, this is really cool, i gonna make one of them just hang it on my wall for the sake.
Until I see this Ice Tube Clock today, this is beyond cool, brilliant brilliant DIY.
It has its special features:
- Cool glowing blue tube with 8 digits and alarm on/off dot
- Adjustable brightness
- Alarm with volume adjust
- Precision watch crystal keeps time with under 20ppm (0.0002%) error (< 2 seconds a day)
- Clear plastic enclosure protects clock from you and you from clock
- Battery backup will let the clock keep the time for up to 2 weeks without power
- Selectable 12h or 24h display
- Displays day and date
- 10 minute snooze
- Integrated boost converter so it can run off of standard DC wall adapters, works in any country regardless of mains power
- Great for desk or night table use, the clock measures 4.9″ x 2.9″ x 1.3″ (12.5cm x 7.4cm x 3.3cm)
- Completely open source hardware and software, ready to be hacked and modded!
Again, this is a brilliant design, and it is open sources too.
