Well, after hours searching and trying to get a replacement LCD screen for my 20″ iMac, I was so disappointed I couldn’t find any thing under my budget. $900 for a 3 years old computer screen part I rather get a new Macbook Pro instead.

Since I am low on budget then I figured that I can use my iMac like a normal PC desktop + a monitor if that works. (I have an extra monitor with my iMac, I like having 2 screens, one for browsing and one for work or movies. it’s good.)

So I turn on the mac and try to drag the system preferences window to anther screen, that takes me almost an hour. Try to think about it, I have to guess where is the SP icon on the dock, open it then drag that window to another screen without seeing it. I was luck I did it. Now I have a computer that is “working”. Followed with set 2 screen as duplicate – showing the same thing, then done.

NOT yet, I realize I don’t like the feeling which the screen is on but I can’t really see anything (well, I see grey, white color and cracking screen). I hate to do it but there is only one way I could think of is open the sh*t of that iMac and unplug the LCD cable.

After anther half hour opening, un/screwing and cleaning (you have no idea how dirty is that mac inside, 3 years of dust, moving from Sherbrook to Montreal).

This is my final product, it’s not perfect but I can live with it for now.

I am quite satisfied for what I did.
